If you have a potential donation, or are seeking to discuss the development of the Archive or the history of computing in general, your first point of contact should be the Associate Director, Dr James Sumner. The history of computing is a key research theme at CHSTM: we are always keen to hear of new work relating to the field, and can usually arrange a meeting with visiting researchers. Email correspondence should be addressed directly to Dr Sumner. The Archive's postal address is:
UK National Archive for the History of Computing
Second Floor, Simon Building
University of Manchester
Manchester M13 9PL
Please be aware that:
- the Associate Director cannot provide access to the Archive itself, since it is held within the University Library's Special Collections and maintained securely by Library staff on a separate site (all access enquiries should be directed to the Library, as noted above;
- the NAHC currently has no administrative staff: enquiries are handled directly by academic researchers who may be absent for extended periods;
- we are unable to provide valuation advice for texts or artefacts, and cannot respond to any queries on this point.
