Further Education projects

The AS level in Science for Public Understanding, developed by the Nuffield Foundation and the University of York, is growing in popularity. A need has been recognised for more teaching resources to help science teachers deliver this radically new form of curriculum. We are developing a series of lesson activity plans which will be available on this site and on the course website. We provided speakers for the INSET day for teachers of this course in June 2005, at the Museum of Science and Industry.

The AS level in Perspectives on Science, administered by Edexcel, went into pilot in September 2004. This combines the history, philosophy, and ethics of science, and assesses students purely on coursework assignments. We are happy to support local schools taking part in the pilot, and supply resources such as talks and guidance on how to choose research questions to all schools which are interested.
