Manchester’s health history

Manchester Histories Festival logo

We are delighted to announce that the second Manchester Histories Festival will be held from 24 February to 4 March 2012.

It follows the very successful inaugural Festival in 2009, when we worked with about 40 schools and about 4000 people came to Manchester Town Hall on the main day of the Festival, demonstrating the wide popular appeal of discovering and celebrating our histories.

The Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine is proud to be supporting projects on Manchester’s health history. On this page, we’ll be posting resources for schools: check back regularly for downloadable primary source material on health and hospitals in Manchester.

If you would like more information about health history projects for schools, please contact Alice Nicholls (alice.nicholls@postgrad.manchester.ac.uk)

If you would like more information on the Festival, please contact Claire Turner (claire.turner@manchester.ac.uk)

Further details on the Festival, and a new website, will be launched towards the end of 2011.
